Most challenging thing about being a superhero:
As a Charge Nurse my challenge is to continue to make the unit run effectively,
managing emergent situations and assisting staff when needed.
Most rewarding thing about being a superhero:
My rewards comes from seeing the patient improve within our 24 hour goal and
transfer them out to the floor with no complications. I am also rewarded when I
take on my mentoring responsibilities to help mold and show the new nurses what
we can achieve here. There faces light up.
Describe your work environment:
Being in the Surgical ICU, our environment is a high intense acuity unit, and
everyone works as a team. Everyone pays attention to the smallest details
because they can be extremely important. Charge, managers and staff work so
well together.
How does DEBORAH take care of its employees?
Deborah is very open to all employees. The nursing department is cognizant of
the nursing and clinical needs, and works hart to ensure that those needs are
met. We have many privileges here and I feel that the hospital and those who
work in it are all on the same page with the same mission and the same vision.
What does “taking the high road” mean to you?
We have a prestigious core of nurses here. You need a good mindset to achieve
the goals we set. You have to have a great ambition to succeed, striving only
for the best in yourself and in the care you give.
